The M22 laser by Lumenis is great for addressing the imperfections caused by acne, and the ResurFX application is particularly effective when addressing this concern.
It works by sending controlled beams of light to the required depth (depending on the individual’s concerns), targeting only the affected skin cells. The light turns to heat when absorbed by the skin’s cells, which stimulates the fibres to encourage the production of new collagen. ResurFX is renowned for its precision, and as it’s a non-ablative laser, there is very little chance of harming (ablating) any of the surrounding skin and tissues.
In most cases our trained practitioner will reach your goal of smoother, evenly toned skin in around 3-5 sessions, spaced 2 weeks apart. New collagen and elastin will, however, continue to regenerate for up to 6 months after the final treatment.
If you are new to M22’s ResurFX laser treatment we will often require you to undertake a patch test 48 hours before the treatment is scheduled. This will ensure we are completely aware of how your skin will respond, and will help to avoid any adverse effects.
As each patient and their individual results are unique, we personalise any aftercare advice. However, we do suggest to all patients that a suitable SPF is worn when going outside to protect your sensitive skin from the sun.

POPULAR QUESTION:
Is Lumenis IPL with ResurFX painful when treating acne scars?
As with most treatments, the level of discomfort experienced during Lumenis IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) combined with ResurFX for treating acne scars can vary from person to person. Lumenis IPL with ResurFX is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that utilises intense pulsed light and fractional laser technology to target various skin issues, including acne scars.
The ResurFX component of the treatment involves fractional laser technology, which creates microthermal zones in the skin to stimulate collagen production and promote skin renewal. While the procedure may cause some discomfort, the degree of pain is generally well-tolerated by most individuals. The use of topical anaesthetics or cooling gels before the procedure can help minimise any potential discomfort.
Patients often describe the sensation during the treatment as a mild stinging or snapping feeling, similar to the snapping of a rubber band against the skin. However, the discomfort is typically brief and manageable. It’s essential to communicate openly with your skincare professional to ensure they can adjust settings or take additional measures to enhance your comfort during the procedure.
It’s worth noting that pain thresholds vary among individuals, and factors such as skin sensitivity, the depth of the acne scars, and the specific settings used during the treatment can influence the level of discomfort. Overall, Lumenis IPL with ResurFX is generally considered a well-tolerated procedure for many individuals seeking to improve the appearance of acne scars.
