What Is Sagging Skin?
Sagging or loose skin exacerbates a tired look, and may cause the lower part of the face to develop a heavy appearance.
This concern can affect men and women more progressively as they get older, and may be apparent on any area of the face, from the upper and lower eyelids to the skin around the jawline, chin and neck. The ageing process is unique to each individual and how saggy the skin becomes is often genetically linked, with lifestyle factors such as: smoking, poor diet, lack of hydration, alcohol consumption and sun exposure exacerbating the visible concerns.
What Are the Causes of Lax Skin?
As with many ageing-related conditions, skin laxity is mainly due to lost collagen and elastin. These are naturally occurring proteins that are produced in the middle layer of the skin (dermis), and slow down in production when we’re in our 20’s. The combination of lost volume and weak skin that is less buoyant causes the skin to become thin and easily stretched. The effects of gravity exacerbate this over time.
What Is the Treatment for Skin Laxity?
At Prema our aesthetician will work with you to develop a bespoke treatment plan for reducing the appearance of sagging skin and creating a firmer, fuller complexion. With the right treatment, placed in the right location, we can volumise sagging skin and create a fuller, lifted look.
